Understanding Reservation Policies for GPAT 2024: A Comprehensive Guide

In the context of admissions through GPAT 2024, it’s crucial to grasp the intricate reservation policies set forth by the Government of India and respective State Governments. These policies ensure fair opportunities for candidates from various categories:

  1. Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST):
    • SC candidates are reserved 15% of the seats.
    • ST candidates are reserved 7.5% of the seats.
  2. Other Backward Classes (OBC) – Non Creamy Layer (NCL):
    • 27% of seats are reserved for OBC-NCL candidates as per the Central List.
    • Applicants must ensure their caste is listed under OBC-NCL and falls under the non-creamy layer.
  3. General Economically Weaker Sections (General – EWS):
    • 10% of seats are reserved for General – EWS candidates.
  4. Persons with Disabilities (PWD):
    • 5% reservation for candidates with disabilities defined as per the RPwD Act, 2016.

    • Institutes under state governments follow their respective reservation policies.
  6. Counseling and Admission Process:

  7. NBEMS and Admission to M.Pharm/PhD Courses:
    • NBEMS has no role in counseling for admission to M.Pharm/PhD courses utilizing GPAT scores. Admission is managed by state governments or state admission committees.
